So...You are getting married, Congratulations! Never before and never again will you be spending so much time, emotion and money on a single day. Deciding on a budget and sticking to it is often the most difficult part of the process. Keeping expectations and wishes in check can be highly stressful, however with an agreed, realistic budget it ensures you don't over spend and start your married life in debt!

It goes without saying that weddings are expensive. There are so many things that you need to squeeze into your budget. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to shop around and get a quote you are happy with. Prices can vary and often there are extras that can be removed from the bill.
Here are a couple of pointers to get you started:

Decide on a budget as a couple, after all this day is for the both of you, so stick to it. Research off peak and low or shoulder season dates DIY as much as you can. With a little creativity, get crafty and make your own invitations, wedding bomboniere and ask around. Family and friends are a great resource for referrals. Perhaps they know someone that can help out with a favour (maybe a cake or flowers).

Invitations - there are so many DIY Invitation suppliers popping up, with beautiful papers and easy to use software.
Flowers - The best way to save money here is by using wedding flowers that are in season. Double up by using the bouquets as bridal table decorations.
Transport - If you are staying at your venue, spend the transport budget on the honeymoon suite and ask for an early check in!
Reception venue- Less popular days are generally cheaper, along with "off" season dates.
Serve your wedding cake as desert.

There are lots more ways to save money when planning your wedding, so make sure you have a good look over the budget planner and work out what your priorities are and budget accordingly.
